We hope you’re not suffering from fashion fatigue cos we’ve jumped into all the shows to give you the definitive rundown from the last few days!
As they say, twice is a coincidence and these many times definitely count as a trend. Here’s all the styles your favourite designers championed on the runway this season! Lagos Fashion Week was alive with designers pulling out all the tricks in the book, from plunging neckline to dramatic full fringe skirts, peekaboo moments and the ultimate girly drop waist silhouette.
Take a dive into some of our favourites and how these trends delivered!
Fringe Benefits
Coming up first, you couldn’t have missed this one, all that fringe for the perfect sashay down the runway! We saw every colour, all lengths and so many different flavours!
Kilentar closed with the stunning white fringe skirt and beaded shell top a welcome upgrade from a technique used at their Lagos Fashion Week show (pictured first). Nya with the sultry black dress with embellished detail which sparkled. Sisiano upped the ante with the full look in purple fringe, a dancers dream. Desiree Iyamah also got the memo with a handful of fringed skirts in her show.
Other designers featured include Ajanée, Dust Of The Earth, Oshobor, Cute Saint, ShopFSS and The LadyMaker.
The Plunge
In the mood for some cleavage? We’ve got low necklines coming your way…
A number of designers embraced a lower neckline celebrating the female form and general chest area. If you’re a girl that loves a little bit of this, look no further than Pettre Taylor (pictured first), Emmy Kasbit in this suiting option that we adored, Lagos Space Programme reimagining the white shirt and Fruché delivering with drama and draping every time.
Other designers featured include Nya, Kilentar, Kadiju, Garbe and Loza Maleombho.
Drop It Like It’s Hot
The designers (and the girlies) couldn’t resist a drop waist, we’re stilll loving this trend and there was so much to choose from!
Pepperrow refreshed a staple from a previous collection with a body made from gathered chiffon and a drop waist mini skirt on the first dress. Ejiro Amos Tafiri’s square gathers provided volume on this gorgeous purple number. Pettre Taylor delivers a set with the drop waist skirt and Sisiano in this romantic flowing skirt that comes alive in all the right areas.
Other designers include Oshobor, Rendoll, Jewel Jemila, Desiree Iyamah, Nya, Oya Abeo and Shop FSS.
Meshy Business
We all love a little see through action and this season designers did not shy away. From sheer blouses, skirts and dresses we’ve got all the best bits of the peek-a-boo action.
YwandeLag led the pack with a great blend of solid and see through pieces, some that felt beach or night time ready. Nya delivered a stunning mesh top in chiffon balanced by an understated mini skirt with bead detail - perfect for Lagos Nights . Fruché couldn’t be missed with this white dress and 3D bodice brought all the drama.
Otner designers that didn’t miss out on the mesh memo include FIA, Kente Gentlemen with lace, Pepperrow covers up with full embellishment, LFJ, Pettre Taylor, Ejiro Amos Tafiri and Imad Eduso in an updated design
